Creating a Modern Downtown Oasis: The Hargett Transformation Project
Our clients recently moved to a townhome in downtown Raleigh and wanted to put their own unique, contemporary spin on their new residence. Working with them to understand their style and vision, we developed a design plan reflecting their timeless design tastes and new urban adventure.
Bringing our clients' visions to life, we modernized and tailored the home to their preferences, implementing countless custom design elements and details for a personalized haven.
Blending Modern Living and Classic Design
Nestled within the heart of vibrant downtown Raleigh, we wanted this townhome to reflect its modern surroundings while incorporating classic and timeless design elements. We seamlessly blended our clients’ classic design preferences with bold, modern accents, creating a sophisticated and inviting urban oasis.
Our color palette reflected this design scheme, featuring a mix of black and white hues and vibrant green and orange pops. Throughout the home, we added unique artistic details and accessories to modernize the space while adding life and personality.
Customizing with Bespoke Details
Centering our renovation project around our client’s unique lifestyle and tastes, we created custom spaces throughout the home to maximize style and livability. In the study nook, we added custom bookshelves to fit the space and character of the room.
We also added a custom wine bar on the main level in a nook by the staircase, perfectly designed for the small space. The station featured custom cabinetry and refrigeration in a beautiful forest green and stunning bar accessories.
Perhaps one of the most exciting custom spaces to create was the rooftop bar area. Converting an old closet into a bright and inviting wet bar area, we played around with fun colors and details. We incorporated green cabinetry and an orange and white patterned backsplash to add a pop of color and reflect the exciting rooftop surroundings.
Overcoming Challenges
We unveiled unique challenges as we infused character and personality within the home.
In the upstairs hallway, we wanted to add a focal point with refurbished antique doors. After hand-selecting old European antique doors, we faced incredible difficulty restoring and hanging them due to their imperfect lines.
Following some trials and tribulations, we refinished the doors, cut them down, and added mirrors and new hardware to modernize them. Though it required extra labor and time, the refurbished antique doors added one-of-a-kind character to the hallway, creating a unique focal point.
